Heavy-Duty Mechanic (Mining / CAT Equipment)

About the role

GateSource HR is recruiting a Mobile Maintenance Mechanic for a mining client in Michigan, USA. The role keeps mobile equipment reliable and efficient through routine inspections, maintenance and repairs of underground mining machinery, with a schedule of 7 days on, 7 days off (two weeks of work per month).

Key responsibilities

• Inspect, lubricate, diagnose, maintain and repair all underground mining machinery.
• Diagnose mechanical issues and carry out repairs to prevent equipment failures.
• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance to extend equipment life.
• Carry out systematic checks, lubrication and part replacements as needed.
• Keep detailed records of maintenance, inspections and repairs.
• Operate machinery such as overhead cranes, forklifts and boom trucks.
• Work independently while maintaining high safety standards and follow additional tasks as assigned.

Required profile

• Over 5 years of experience as a heavy equipment mechanic.
• Strong mechanical skills and efficient problem-solving.
• Ability to work independently while upholding high safety standards.

Required skills

• Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems of heavy machinery.
• Ability to read equipment manuals, schematics and technical drawings.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; SAP is preferred.
