Electrical & Instrumentation Technician (Mining)

About the role

A leading mining company is hiring an Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) Technician through GateSource HR. The role is central to keeping electrical and instrumentation systems performing safely and optimally. The schedule is described as 7 days on, 7 days off, with work only two weeks a month.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance and troubleshooting on all electrical systems, including instrumentation and Rockwell Distributed Control Systems.
• Maintain generators, motors, conveyors and other electrical machinery, and carry out installation, repair and replacement of equipment.
• Use voltmeters, ammeters, meggers and similar test devices, and test electrical equipment up to 25 kV.
• Follow lockout/tag-out procedures during equipment maintenance.
• Maintain telephones, paging systems and mine radio systems.
• Operate forklifts, man lifts, pickup trucks and other service vehicles.
• Prepare work orders and complete the required documentation.
• Carry out additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Over 5 years of experience working with electrical and instrumentation systems.
• Preferred knowledge of Rockwell; experience with Allen Bradley and Siemens is also acceptable.
• Strong understanding and application of mathematical and electrical formulas.
• Excellent communication skills.
