Senior Systems Administrator - Infrastructure Team Lead
AmpThink · Orlando
Job description
About the role
AmpThink provides technology systems for stadiums and arenas in North America. This position is based at the Kia Center in Orlando, FL, and covers the technical operations of two major venues: Kia Center and Camping World Stadium. It is not a pure network administration role: the network is one layer of a larger stack including compute, virtualization, storage and applications. The role leads the Orlando infrastructure team's day-to-day technical direction and acts as the lead point of contact for stakeholder communications, without formal people-management authority. About 75% of the work is on site, with travel capped at roughly 25%. Candidates may also consult on projects outside the market.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day technical direction of the Orlando infrastructure team, coordinating priorities, workload and event-day response.
- Serve as the main communicator with venue stakeholders, event operations, IT staff and third-party vendors on technical matters.
- Own the full systems lifecycle: server and hypervisor administration, storage and backup, network components and integration of new building systems.
- Maintain the compute and virtualization environment (hypervisor hosts, VM lifecycle, storage arrays, backup/replication) and the multi-layer Cisco Catalyst network.
- Provision, patch and troubleshoot servers for arena applications such as ticketing, POS, IPTV, digital signage, Wi-Fi controllers and telephony.
- Take part in project bills of materials, network and systems strategy, and technical planning for new initiatives.
- Produce technical documentation: server architecture, network design documents, and sub-contractor requirements.
- Manage help desk tickets with a focus on root-cause resolution and act as the technical liaison during live events.
Required profile
- 3+ years administering servers and systems infrastructure in a technology-based business or engineering firm (virtualization, storage or enterprise compute preferred).
- Technical/IT or engineering degree; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Ability to work in a high-pressure, multi-priority environment and to communicate clearly with non-technical audiences.
- Mandatory background and drug screening.
Required skills
- Enterprise virtualization platforms (VMware, Nutanix, Hyper-V) and server OS (Windows Server and/or Linux).
- Cisco networking (CCNA-level or equivalent hands-on experience); CCNP is a plus but not required.
- Scripting/automation (PowerShell, Python) is a strong plus.
What we offer
- Benefits including 3 weeks of paid leave per year and 8 paid holidays.
- Health insurance (PPO) premium paid in full for employees.
- Simple IRA retirement plan matching up to 3% of salary, and optional group benefits such as dental, life, disability and financial planning.
- AmpForce program: 3 paid workdays to volunteer for a charity or non-profit.
- Gear program allowing selection of company-branded gear each year.
