Senior Substation Engineer – High Voltage Projects

About the role

The Senior Substation Engineer will join a project team to lead detailed electrical design and project management for high‑voltage substation projects. The role involves conceptualizing projects, planning work, and executing assignments while supporting troubleshooting and technical reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design of medium‑ and high‑voltage power systems, including substation grounding, shielding, and battery sizing calculations.
• Prepare clear technical reports, status updates, and client‑facing documents that meet S&L formats.
• Collaborate with designers to develop single‑line diagrams, relaying, metering, DC schematics, and grounding plans.
• Track project schedules, budgets, and expenditures, and interface with clients on progress.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program.
• 5+ years of experience designing medium‑voltage power systems.
• Strong ability to prioritize multiple projects under budget and time constraints.
• Bilingual in Spanish and English (read, write, speak).

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• AutoCAD experience for substation layout and schematics.
• Familiarity with ANSI/IEEE/NEMA standards and the National Electrical Safety Code (ANSI‑C2).
