Senior Structural Engineer (PE) - Tanks & Industrial Structures

About the role

CB&I Storage Solutions is looking for a Senior Structural Engineer (PE) in The Woodlands, Texas. The engineer acts as a subject matter expert for one or more technologies or product lines and may represent CB&I Storage Solutions in code committees or communities of practice. The role covers design and analysis of plate structures such as tanks, vessels, structures, modules, foundations and other site facilities, working independently with minimal supervision and reporting to the Department or Design Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Produce and check design deliverables per design codes, company standards and customer drawings, ensuring safety, constructability and compliance with local professional engineering regulations.
• Run and verify design calculations in engineering software, and check and sign off calculations, specifications and other deliverables for customer approval.
• Compare designs to as-sold estimates and customer documents, flagging discrepancies and potential change notices.
• Mentor and supervise less experienced engineers, and make project-specific decisions.
• May maintain a professional license in at least one jurisdiction and stamp project deliverables.
• Use the document management system effectively and propose improvements to tools and workflows.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Structural, Civil or Mechanical Engineering (structural preferred).
• PE license required (Structural SE strongly preferred; Civil and Mechanical PE accepted).
• 5-10 years of design experience in industrial or heavy-industry structures, preferably in EPC or design-build environments.
• Structural engineering background preferred; experienced mechanical engineer with a PE license also considered.

Required skills

• Design codes: API 650, API 620, ASME Section VIII, AISC, ASCE, IBC, ACI.
• Engineering software for structural and mechanical analysis.
• Strong analytical skills, communication and negotiation skills, and ability to manage multiple tasks and tight deadlines.
