Senior Staff Engineer – Applied AI for Patient Experience

About the role

Rula is seeking a Senior Staff Engineer to lead Applied AI initiatives for patient-facing experiences. This remote‑first role focuses on building and scaling AI/ML‑powered features such as matching, ranking, recommendations, onboarding, and personalization.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and improve production ML models and AI‑powered systems across patient engineering.
• Build reusable ML infrastructure, including feature pipelines, training/inference pipelines, model serving, evaluation, and observability.
• Partner with Rula’s ML team on shared architecture, standards, and deployment practices.
• Evaluate whether problems are best solved with custom ML, foundation models/AI services, deterministic software, or hybrid approaches.

Required profile

• 10+ years of software and/or ML engineering experience with measurable product impact.
• Deep hands‑on expertise across the full ML lifecycle, from problem formulation to monitoring and continuous improvement.
• Proven 0→1 experience building shared ML infrastructure adopted across teams.
• Experience with recommendation, ranking, relevance, personalization, search, or matching systems and rigorous offline‑to‑online evaluation.
