Senior Sourcing Manager, Contract Manufacturing

About the role

Pendulum, a biotech company developing therapeutic probiotics, is looking for a Senior Sourcing Manager, Contract Manufacturing to own the commercial and operational performance of its contract manufacturing network. The role manages partners that buy and control raw materials and packaging inventory, blend powders, encapsulate products, fill bottles, load cartons and prepare finished goods for distribution. It combines strategic sourcing discipline with a practical understanding of how manufacturing facilities operate.

Key responsibilities

• Own category strategy and commercial relationships for contract manufacturers across blending, encapsulation, bottling, labeling, cartoning and related finished-goods operations.
• Build a supplier network strategy balancing capability, quality, capacity, service, cost, speed and business continuity, and lead supplier identification, qualification, contracting, onboarding and ongoing management.
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, capacity commitments, lead times, inventory liability, service levels, change controls and long-term agreements.
• Build should-cost models separating pass-through costs from labor, overhead, equipment, yield loss, scrap, testing, freight and supplier margin, and partner with Finance and Supply Planning on cost and capacity scenarios.
• Map manufacturing processes, apply industrial engineering fundamentals such as cycle-time analysis, value-stream mapping and line balancing, and develop joint improvement roadmaps with suppliers.
• Serve as primary commercial relationship owner, set scorecards and business reviews, and hold suppliers accountable while building long-term partnerships.
• Partner with Quality, Regulatory, Product, R&D, Supply Planning, Packaging, Logistics and Finance on supplier readiness for launches, site transfers, packaging changes and scale-ups.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, Operations or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, contract manufacturing, supplier management or manufacturing operations in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience managing contract manufacturers in nutraceuticals, food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical devices, cosmetics, electronics or equivalent industries.
• Demonstrated experience leading complex supplier negotiations and managing senior-level commercial relationships.

Required skills

• Strong should-cost capability and analytical skills.
• Working knowledge of manufacturing operations and industrial engineering fundamentals.
• Advanced proficiency with Google Sheets and/or Microsoft Excel; NetSuite or another ERP system preferred.
