Senior Software Engineer – Observability Migration

About the role

Darwoft is looking for a senior software engineer to lead the migration of its observability stack from New Relic to an OpenTelemetry Collector‑based architecture. The role is fully remote and focuses on re‑instrumenting applications, updating deployment manifests, and ensuring continuous monitoring coverage.

Key responsibilities

• Migrate application instrumentation, tracing and telemetry configurations from New Relic to OpenTelemetry.
• Update YAML files, environment variables and deployment manifests to match the new architecture.
• Execute unit tests and validation suites to confirm accurate telemetry generation and export.
• Perform telemetry gap analysis and document missing traces, metrics or logs.
• Assist in updating dashboards, monitoring documentation and troubleshooting guides.
• Investigate collection/export errors and collaborate with platform engineers on edge cases.
• Track implementation progress, risks and migration issues.

Required profile

• Proven software engineering experience with at least one modern language (Java, Python, Go, JavaScript/TypeScript).
• Hands‑on experience with OpenTelemetry concepts and collector configuration.
• Deep knowledge of cloud observability and migration from legacy platforms such as New Relic.
• Strong understanding of HTTP, APIs, and complex YAML/JSON manifests.
• Solid background in testing, debugging and validating high‑cardinality telemetry data.
