Senior Software Engineer - Backend (Media Capture)

About the role

Read AI is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Media Capture team, responsible for building and scaling the systems that capture and process audio and video data for downstream AI features.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build a next‑generation live media pipeline with low‑latency handling of raw streaming data.
• Maintain and improve meeting agents that join and capture Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams calls.
• Debug real‑time connection edge cases and implement monitoring and alerting.
• Tune FFmpeg/GStreamer pipelines for cost efficiency while preserving quality and latency.
• Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to turn data‑driven insights into features.

Required profile

• Proven experience building software solutions that perform at scale.
• Technical breadth across multiple domains and ability to learn new stacks.
• Strong problem‑solving mindset, autonomy, and effective communication with technical and non‑technical audiences.

Required skills

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and auto‑scaling large systems.
• Proficiency with streaming protocols/standards such as WebRTC and MoQ.
• Hands‑on knowledge of media processing libraries like FFmpeg and GStreamer.
• Understanding of HTML/CSS and browser rendering.

• Base salary range $180,000 – $210,000 plus equity and benefits.
