Senior Software Engineer - Backend (Core)

About the role

Read AI is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join its Backend team and help build the scalable services that power its AI‑driven productivity platform.

Key responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs using Python (FastAPI), SQLAlchemy, and AWS.
• Design features for data ingestion, third‑party integrations, authentication/authorization, and enterprise‑grade security.
• Own the full software development lifecycle from design to monitoring.
• Collaborate with product managers, frontend engineers, and data scientists.
• Drive technical excellence through code reviews, mentorship, and best practices.
• Participate in on‑call rotations and improve reliability, observability, and performance.

Required profile

• 7+ years of professional backend engineering experience with production systems.
• Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences.
• Experience in fast‑paced, startup environments.
• Ownership mindset, curiosity, and passion for continuous learning.

Required skills

• Python (or similar languages such as Java, C++, Node.js)
• FastAPI, SQLAlchemy
• AWS cloud services
• API design, OAuth2, JWT
• CI/CD pipelines and Terraform (IaC)
• Docker and Kubernetes (optional but valued)
