Senior Social News Producer

About the role

Northeastern University seeks an experienced Senior Social News Producer to create daily, social‑first video content for platforms such as TikTok and Instagram. The role involves fast‑turnaround shooting, editing, and on‑camera appearances to showcase breaking news and university stories.

Key responsibilities

• Conceptualize, shoot, and edit daily vertical video news and storytelling content for TikTok, Instagram, and other short‑form platforms.
• Lead production of longer‑form projects, including podcast‑style shoots and executive‑level video pieces.
• Maintain high visual and technical standards for the team’s vertical video output.
• Stay ahead of platform trends and news cycles to identify timely content opportunities.
• Provide informal guidance and feedback to junior content creators.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• 3‑5 years of professional shooting and editing experience with a strong portfolio of social‑first video, especially news content.
• Strong on‑camera presence and ability to appear regularly in social video.
• Ability to work independently, set priorities, and meet tight deadlines.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and/or DaVinci Resolve.
• Experience shooting and editing longer‑form video (10+ minutes) and condensing it into consumable vertical formats.
• Deep knowledge of current social platform trends and news cycles.
