Senior Scientist – Signal & Image Processing (TS/SCI)

About the role

ARKA’s RST business unit is looking for a Senior Scientist to lead the development of next‑generation signal and image processing software for space‑based remote sensing. The role focuses on synthetic aperture radar (SAR) technologies, turning algorithms into operational software that supports U.S. defense and intelligence missions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and optimise SAR signal‑processing and image‑creation algorithms from concept to production‑ready code.
• Translate algorithm prototypes into high‑performance C++, Python, MATLAB or Rust applications capable of handling large‑scale imagery.
• Mentor junior engineers and share knowledge across the team.
• Collaborate with program managers, external vendors and hardware groups to integrate software into existing platforms.
• Represent ARKA in technical working groups and resolve issues promptly.

Required profile

• U.S. citizenship with an active TS/SCI clearance and Full‑Scope Polygraph.
• Bachelor’s or higher in Electrical Engineering, Signal Processing, Physics or a related field (or 10 years equivalent experience).
• Proven experience with synthetic aperture radar and converting SAR concepts into working software.

Required skills

• Proficiency in C++, Python, MATLAB, or Rust.
• Strong background in signal processing, SAR algorithms and image processing.
• Experience developing scalable software for large‑image datasets.
