Senior Purchasing Manager – Packaging Materials

About the role

Responsible for sourcing, performance and cost management of packaging materials for the US and Canada, ensuring supply, quality, cost efficiency and innovation in line with Barilla’s purchasing policy.

Key responsibilities

• Define and maintain sourcing strategy for cartons and corrugated categories, including market analysis and budget forecasting.
• Identify and execute cost‑saving initiatives while balancing risk and benefit.
• Design and lead contract negotiations (RFQ, RFI, etc.) and ensure compliance with purchasing policies.
• Manage supplier relationships, monitor packaging material specifications, regulations and impact on production.
• Support new product development by identifying supply solutions and coordinating with project leaders.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, Packaging Engineering, Technology or Finance; MBA a plus.
• 5+ years of experience purchasing paper‑based packaging (corrugated, folding cartons) in a CPG food environment.
• Proven ability to analyze financial data, manage cross‑functional projects and travel 20‑30% domestically and internationally.
• Strong communication, decision‑making and confidentiality skills.

Required skills

• Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio).
• SAP/ERP systems.
• Enovia (preferred).
