Electronics Laboratory Technician

About the role

The Industrial Controls Lab is seeking an Electronics Laboratory Technician to support performance testing and certification of industrial control products such as PLCs, motor drives, contactors, elevator interlocks, and emergency‑stop devices. You will work closely with engineers and clients to set up, execute, and document a variety of electrical and mechanical tests.

Key responsibilities

• Examine test samples, read blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and operational instructions.
• Build, adjust, and operate test setups and laboratory equipment to meet voltage, amperage, and power‑factor requirements.
• Analyze test performance, record data on UL forms, and prepare test reports.
• Perform routine maintenance on test equipment and the laboratory area.
• Communicate test methods and results with clients, UL field representatives, and engineering staff.
• Integrate continuous‑improvement concepts and assist with planning and evaluating tests as directed.

Required profile

• Associate’s degree or military equivalent in electronics technology.
• Strong knowledge of electrical/electronics principles and experience with industrial control products.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work in a team‑oriented environment.
• Physical ability to lift 50 lb and work in a demanding laboratory setting.

Required skills

• Reading and interpreting schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Electrical testing and measurement using resistive and inductive circuits.
• Operation of laboratory test equipment and routine maintenance.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Automation integration for test procedures.
