Category Manager – Equipment Procurement

About the role

BASF is seeking a Category Manager for Equipment to join its Global Procurement team in Houston. The role drives regional category strategy for industrial equipment across North and South America, balancing cost, supply resilience and sustainability.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute equipment category strategies, translating business and technical requirements into sourcing plans.
• Lead complex negotiations and sourcing initiatives that deliver measurable cost savings and innovation.
• Manage high‑performing supplier relationships, ensuring quality, safety and sustainability.
• Align regional priorities with global procurement policies and governance.
• Coach and develop a team of category buyers across the Americas.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Finance or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Significant experience in strategic procurement, category management or similar commercial function within a complex environment.
• Proven track record of developing category strategies, leading negotiations and influencing senior stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel across the Americas and internationally as needed.
