Senior Project Manager - Merchant Energy Delivery

About the role

Puget Sound Energy (PSE) is seeking a Senior Project Manager within its Energy Supply Merchant (ESM) team. The role leads and continuously improves the Front Office Asset Integration (FOAI) program and integrates a diverse portfolio of resource acquisition contracts and commercial arrangements into ESM operations, from agreement execution through operational readiness. It is a hybrid position based in Washington, and specific work arrangements are discussed during the interview.

Key responsibilities

• Manage project activities for integrating energy resources and commercial agreements into ESM operations, tracking milestones and scheduling resources.
• Lead and improve the FOAI program, including governance, processes, tools, documentation, system access, scope and readiness.
• Coordinate asset integration with ESM traders, schedulers, data analysts, engineers, developers and counterparties.
• Integrate PPAs, tolling agreements, Build-Transfer Agreements (BTAs), capacity contracts, self-build generation projects and load integration efforts into ESM systems and operations.
• Track commercial, construction, contractual and operational milestones and report progress via dashboards, newsletters and operational readiness reviews.
• Facilitate discussions with third-party developers and counterparties on asset operating protocols, and advocate for ESM priorities and risk escalation.
• Support broader ESM priorities such as market participation, RFP activities, major projects and governance development.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent education and experience.
• At least eight years of relevant project management experience.
• Knowledge of scheduling, estimating, accounting and finance principles; extensive experience with utility budgeting, procurement and contract administration.
• Strong negotiation, critical thinking and leadership skills; customer-oriented and team-oriented.
• Desired: utility, merchant operations, renewable energy or power marketing experience; seven+ years leading complex cross-functional programs; knowledge of ISO/RTO markets, interconnection and resource acquisition structures; PMP or similar certification; experience building dashboards and governance frameworks.
