Project Manager III - Merchant Energy Delivery

About the role

Puget Sound Energy (PSE) is hiring a Project Manager III for its Merchant Energy Delivery team within the Energy Supply Merchant organization. The role leads and continuously improves the Front Office Asset Integration (FOAI) program and integrates a diverse portfolio of resource acquisition contracts and commercial arrangements into ESM operations, from agreement execution through operational readiness. It is listed as a hybrid position (Washington-based); specific work arrangements are discussed during the interview.

Key responsibilities

• Manage project activities for integrating energy resources and commercial agreements into ESM operations, tracking milestones and scheduling resources.
• Lead and improve the FOAI program, including governance, processes, tools, documentation, system access, scope and readiness.
• Integrate PPAs, tolling agreements, Build-Transfer Agreements (BTAs), capacity contracts, self-build generation projects and other resource acquisition initiatives into ESM systems and operations.
• Coordinate with ESM traders, schedulers, data analysts, engineers, developers and counterparties, and with third-party developers and counterparties on asset operating protocols.
• Track commercial, construction, contractual and operational milestones and report progress through dashboards, newsletters and management reporting.
• Support broader ESM priorities such as market participation, RFP activities, major projects and governance development.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least six years of relevant experience, including managing simple to medium complexity projects.
• Experience with scheduling, estimating, accounting and finance principles, and with budgeting, procurement and contract administration.
• Strong communication, negotiation, analytical and problem-solving skills; leadership of a multidisciplinary team.
• Desired: utility, merchant operations, renewable energy or power marketing experience; knowledge of ISO/RTO markets, BTAs, capacity contracts and power purchase agreements; PMP or similar certification.
