Senior Project Engineer – Technical Manager (Utilities)

About the role

WSP is seeking a senior‑level Project Engineer to lead technical engineering projects for public‑power utilities. Based in Lakewood, CO (with alternative locations in Texas, Washington, and Kansas), you will work with the Small Utility Services team to deliver safe, reliable, and cost‑effective electrical infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Manage substation, transmission, generation, and study projects for municipal, cooperative, REA, and PUD clients.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across multiple offices to ensure seamless project delivery.
• Review, approve, and QA/QC electrical design plans for mid‑level to complex projects.
• Develop technical reports and presentations that communicate findings and recommendations.
• Engage with public and private stakeholders to resolve engineering and construction challenges.
• Identify business development opportunities and expand the client base for high‑level electrical services.
• Mentor junior engineers and designers, fostering professional growth.

Required profile

• Senior‑level electrical engineering experience in the public‑power sector.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary projects and mentor staff.
• Strong understanding of codes, ordinances, and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent communication skills for client interaction and stakeholder meetings.
