Senior Project Engineer - Mechanical Design Automation

About the role

This Senior Project Engineer position sits within the Engineering Tools team, reporting to the Engineering Tools Manager, and contributes to the Electrification Distribution Solutions in North America. It is an onsite role in Mebane, with main stakeholders in Engineering, R&D and Manufacturing. The engineer acts as design authority for a discipline of low to medium complexity, completing assignments on small projects or parts of larger ones in a cost-effective way.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, organize, lead and execute multiple small and large projects at once while meeting target delivery dates.
• Develop user requirements, specifications and structure for applications such as Empower, Rulestream, ePLAN, GPLM and SAP.
• Design, code, test and implement new programs in Visual Basic (VBA and VB.NET) and C# using structured programming techniques.
• Work with Engineering, Manufacturing, IT and SAP teams to identify and resolve system-related issues.
• Enhance mechanical configurator code and tables, and electrical CAD tools, for various product lines.
• Set up, maintain and train users on engineering systems.
• Occasionally work evenings and weekends for production problem resolution, programming and inventory support.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics or Mathematics.
• 3 years of experience in project engineering and rule-based systems.
• Working knowledge of SQL and general programming.
• Ability to manage own tasks and work as part of a team.
• US work authorization.

Required skills

• MS Office, Empower, HIRES, ePLAN, GPLM and SAP.
• Enhanced knowledge of low/medium voltage motor control centers.
