Senior Officer, Planned Giving East

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking a Senior Officer to lead planned giving initiatives across the Eastern United States. In this position you will expand legacy gift commitments, nurture a vibrant legacy society, and help secure a sustainable financial future for the organization’s humanitarian programs.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and cultivate high‑net‑worth prospects and existing donors for planned giving opportunities.
• Develop and execute solicitation, cultivation, and stewardship strategies tailored to legacy donors.
• Collaborate with Philanthropy team members and other internal partners to align fundraising goals with program priorities.
• Track and report on planned giving metrics, ensuring targets are met and donor relationships are deepened.
• Manage donor data and prospect pipelines to maintain an accurate and actionable prospect list.

Required profile

• Proven experience in planned giving, major gifts, or high‑net‑worth donor engagement, preferably within a nonprofit environment.
• Strong relationship‑building skills with the ability to inspire confidence and trust among donors.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, with a persuasive yet respectful approach.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently while collaborating across teams.

Required skills

• Knowledge of legacy giving instruments (bequests, charitable trusts, life‑income gifts, etc.).
• Experience using donor management software or CRM systems.
• Analytical ability to interpret giving trends and donor data.
