Senior Medical Laboratory Scientist – Blood Bank (Night Shift)

About the role

Ochsner Health is seeking a Senior Medical Laboratory Scientist to work in the Blood Bank during the night shift. The role involves performing routine and special laboratory tests, coordinating new procedures, and troubleshooting technical issues while ensuring reliable patient testing.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinates clinical competency and performs routine and special lab procedures.
• Maintains regulatory compliance, performance improvement activities, and quality control.
• Assists and consults with the laboratory supervisor or director on technical matters.
• Ensures timely, accurate patient testing and adapts practices to specific patient populations.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or a related scientific field.
• Minimum 4 years of clinical laboratory experience, including at least 1 year in the relevant section.
• Current state license and ASCP, AMT, or AAB certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Technologist.
• Strong computer and data‑entry skills with proficiency in Windows‑style applications.
• Effective verbal and written communication and ability to work in a controlled, safety‑focused environment.
