About the role
The University of Miami/UHealth Central Business Office is seeking a full‑time Senior Medical Collector to ensure accurate patient demographics and timely billing of the proper funding source. The role involves working directly with patients, insurers, and physician offices to resolve issues and maximize reimbursements.
Key responsibilities
- Contact various payers and patients to collect on outstanding accounts, tracking all communications.
- Identify patterns of patient and insurance concerns and report findings to supervising staff.
- Handle incoming patient questions, document concerns, and respond to phone and in‑person inquiries.
- Prepare reports on assigned items and recommend action plans.
- Coordinate resolution of patient accounts, verify demographic and insurance information, and work on accounts receivable to maximize reimbursement.
Required profile
- High School diploma or equivalent (required).
- Minimum three years of relevant experience in medical collections or related field.
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting procedures and principles.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to process confidential information with discretion.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with effective oral and written communication skills.
