Revenue Cycle Specialist 3 – Legal Billing

About the role

The University of Miami/UHealth Central Business Office is seeking a full‑time Revenue Cycle Specialist 3 to provide advanced support in the Compromised Settlements Unit, handling complex legal billing cases and ensuring compliance with HIPAA and Florida statutes.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as lead liaison for law firms, third‑party records retrieval companies, patient advocates, and internal departments for complex personal injury, workers’ compensation, bankruptcy, probate, and billing dispute accounts.
• Process complex subpoenas and statutory attorney requests, manage billing disputes, and ensure accurate, timely billing to payers in accordance with Florida prompt‑pay laws.
• Monitor and optimize Epic Workqueues, apply billing indicators, holds, and adjustments, and interpret EOB information to resolve claim issues.
• Mentor and train lower‑level staff, troubleshoot complicated accounts, and recommend process improvements.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience.
• Strong learning agility, teamwork ability, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of HIPAA, Florida statutes, prompt‑pay laws, and related compliance requirements.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Epic Workqueues and related healthcare billing systems.
• Technical proficiency in standard office software and computer applications.
