Senior Laboratory Technician – Engineering Technician III

About the role

This position performs complex and diverse laboratory tests and records the results on materials used for district, county, local and other state agency transportation projects.

Key responsibilities

• Perform materials tests to ensure samples conform to approved standards or determine material properties.
• Become familiar with the Quality Management Program for reporting and transferring test results.
• Maintain complete and accurate materials test records.
• Calibrate and maintain testing equipment to ensure accurate results.
• Recommend acceptance or rejection of tested samples and materials.
• Assist in laboratory inspections at district producer labs related to Portland Cement Concrete (PCC), HMA and aggregates.
• Perform all duties in compliance with departmental safety rules.
• Conduct duties in a manner that promotes fair and equitable treatment of all employees.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Completion of two years of college in civil engineering technology, pre‑engineering, or a related field.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision while completing tasks.
