Senior Kubernetes Platform Engineer

About the role

Intermedia is seeking a Senior Kubernetes Platform Engineer to design, build, operate, and support its Kubernetes platform across on‑premises and multiple cloud environments. The role ensures a reliable, standardized runtime that integrates with the Internal Developer Platform, enabling application teams to deploy services independently.

Key responsibilities

• Build, operate, and evolve on‑premises (VM‑based) and public‑cloud Kubernetes clusters (AWS EKS, GCP GKE, Azure AKS, Oracle OKE).
• Own the full cluster lifecycle: provisioning, upgrades, patching, and decommissioning.
• Develop and maintain Terraform modules and automate cluster bootstrap and configuration.
• Implement GitOps workflows for platform components.
• Integrate Kubernetes capabilities into the Internal Developer Platform with standard patterns, ingress, secrets, and observability.
• Participate in a rotational on‑call model for platform‑level incidents.
• Troubleshoot platform issues, improve reliability, and create documentation, runbooks, and operational standards.
• Collaborate with IDP, application support, infrastructure, and security teams.

Required profile

• Strong hands‑on experience operating production Kubernetes environments.
• Experience with on‑premises, VM‑based infrastructure and at least one major public cloud.
• Solid understanding of Kubernetes internals, Linux systems, and networking.
• Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code, preferably Terraform.
• Familiarity with Git‑based workflows and GitOps tools.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot distributed systems and production issues.
