Senior Java Software Developer

About the role

Leidos is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer with a strong backend focus and full-stack capabilities to design, build, test and maintain scalable software systems. The role involves architecting backend services, developing APIs and working with the development team to deliver reliable, high-performance applications. It is posted for a position in Clarksburg.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable backend services, APIs and microservices.
• Create and maintain full-scale testing architecture plans and system designs.
• Build, test and maintain high-performance, secure and reliable applications.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, customers and engineers to deliver new features.
• Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code and review code while mentoring junior engineers.
• Optimize applications for performance, scalability and reliability.
• Support CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure, and troubleshoot production issues.
• Take part in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, standups, retrospectives, PI planning).
• Act as a technical expert across multiple project assignments.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 4-8 years of professional software development experience, or 2-6 years with a Master's degree.
• Strong backend experience and experience building RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Strong knowledge of relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.).
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud.
• Experience with agile project management tools such as Jira and Confluence.
• Experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines such as GitLab.

The pay range for this job level is $87,100 to $157,450, which is a general guideline only.
