Senior Inspector – Lead Inspector

About the role

This position is for experienced inspectors who will support the Department of Housing and Community Development in Lanham, Maryland. The role involves both field and office duties, reviewing energy audits, scopes of work, and ensuring compliance with regulations and funding requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct site visits, progress meetings, and desktop reviews of energy projects.
• Review and approve energy audits, scopes of work, specifications, and completed units for compliance.
• Monitor projects for adherence to funding source requirements and state weatherization standards.
• Assist managers with data compilation, reporting, research of new technologies, and technical assistance to network partners.

Required profile

• Senior Inspector: minimum three years of inspection experience; Lead Inspector: minimum five years.
• Ability to read and interpret regulatory requirements, record activities, and coordinate between contractors and managers.
• Valid driver’s license with fewer than five points, ability to lift 50 lb, and strong oral and written communication skills.

Required skills

• BPI Building Analyst Technician and Professional (BA‑T/P) certification.
• BPI Energy Auditor and BPI Quality Control Inspector certifications.
• OSHA 10, Asbestos Awareness (EPA AHERA), and EPA Lead Repair Renovation and Painting (RRP) certifications.
• Familiarity with Maryland Weatherization Standards.
