About the role
The Assistant Farm Manager will support the Farm Manager in overseeing agricultural, horticultural, and marketing activities at Casey Farm, an organic community‑supported agriculture operation in Saunderstown, Rhode Island. This role involves supervising staff, managing volunteers, and assisting with produce sales and visitor interactions.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise farm hands in harvesting, transplanting, weeding, and field preparation (30%).
- Assist the farm manager with greenhouse seeding, transplanting, equipment maintenance, and animal care (30%).
- Train and schedule work‑shares and volunteers for farm tasks (20%).
- Help with selling and donating produce (10%).
- Answer visitor questions about farm activities (5%).
Required profile
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 3 years of relevant farm experience.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to operate farm equipment.
Required skills
- Experience operating tractors.
- Proficiency with power tools and mowing equipment.
