Senior HR Generalist

About the role

The Senior HR Generalist will lead daily HR functions for a nationwide small government contractor, handling employment, compensation, benefits, payroll, employee relations, compliance, and organizational development. This hands‑on position blends strategic planning with operational execution.

Key responsibilities

• Create and implement people and culture initiatives to boost morale and position the company as an employer of choice.
• Provide end‑to‑end employee lifecycle support, including onboarding, talent development, and offboarding.
• Develop, recommend, and maintain policies, employee handbook, and ensure compliance with state, federal, and industry regulations.
• Administer benefits, coordinate with brokers, and design innovative total‑rewards programs.
• Conduct annual compensation analysis, make recommendations for reviews and new hires, and perform internal audits.
• Manage performance, coaching, investigations, discipline, and terminations.
• Partner with talent team on succession and workforce planning.
• Establish best practices, SOPs, and measure initiative success via feedback and analytics.
• Own and manage HRIS platforms and other HR technology.

Required profile

• Minimum 6 years of HR experience, including at least 1 year in a strategic role.
• Bachelor’s degree required; small‑business experience required.
• Thorough knowledge of HR principles and federal/local regulations.
• Proven success in both operational and strategic HR support.
• Exceptional project and personnel management skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Experience with HRIS platforms and HR technology.
