Senior Health & Benefits Consulting Analyst

About the role

Mercer, a Marsh business, is looking for a Senior Health & Benefits Consulting Analyst to join its Health & Benefits team in Phoenix. The role works on the strategy, design, implementation and administration of client companies' health and welfare programs, and involves managing the RFP process, writing client communications and working with internal teams and external carriers. It is a hybrid position with at least three days per week in the office.

Key responsibilities

• Assist senior consultants in reviewing client needs, recommending approaches and implementing benefit program strategies
• Collect, analyse and interpret health care data for client reporting
• Learn the insurance vendor marketplace, plan designs, cost factors and the renewal process for health and group benefit programs
• Coordinate the Request for Proposal (RFP) process on behalf of a client
• Write and structure client communications such as proposals, reports, spreadsheets and presentations
• Build relationships with internal teams, subject matter experts and clients
• Work with carriers and vendors to gather quotes, negotiate, handle client service issues and review plan documentation

Required profile

• BA/BS degree
• At least 1 year of experience in health & benefits, insurance or HR
• Independent thinking, ability to work fast and to multitask with strong time management
• Strong organisational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
• Business acumen and intellectual curiosity

Required skills

• Proficiency in Excel and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Nice to have: previous benefits experience, advanced Excel skills including VLOOKUP, pivot tables and macros
