Senior Fatigue & Damage Tolerance Engineer

About the role

Airbus Commercial Aircraft is seeking a Senior Structure Fatigue & Damage Tolerance Engineer to join its engineering team in Wichita, Kansas. The role focuses on performing complex durability and damage tolerance analyses for metallic aircraft structures, supporting the entire aircraft life‑cycle from design to certification.

Key responsibilities

• Autonomously conduct fatigue and damage tolerance analyses using hand calculations and finite‑element tools to verify structural integrity.
• Document analysis results for trade studies, detail drawing sign‑off, and certification activities.
• Collaborate with Design, Static Stress and other departments to develop optimal structural solutions.
• Mentor junior analysts and lead technical presentations for internal and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Aerospace, Mechanical, Civil or related engineering.
• Minimum nine years of experience with airframe structural analysis, fatigue and damage tolerance.
• Proven ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment and lead technical teams.
• Authorized to work in the United States and fluent in English (written and spoken).

Required skills

• Classical hand calculations and numerical stress analysis (Finite Element).
• Proficiency with NASTRAN, PATRAN and CATIA.
• Strong knowledge of fatigue, damage tolerance, SRM, MRB, and certification standards (FAR/JAR/CS/Part‑21).
• Advanced use of MS Excel and Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Gmail).
