Senior Design Engineer – Aircraft Structures

About the role

This position supports new design and modifications of aircraft structures and system installations, delivering quality solutions on time from a design perspective.

Key responsibilities

• Develop moderate to complex design solutions for metallic and non‑metallic parts, including electrical, hydraulic and fuel system installations.
• Create and modify technical documents such as Design Datasets and Product Structures using SAP, CATIA, VPM and related tools.
• Collaborate with Static Stress, Fatigue and other Airbus departments to optimise designs and meet certification requirements.
• Lead small design teams, mentor junior engineers and act as the technical contact for contracts and projects.
• Identify and drive local improvement initiatives to increase team efficiency.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Aerospace, Mechanical, Civil or related engineering with strong emphasis on structural design and analysis.
• Minimum 9 years of experience in airframe structure design and/or system installation projects.
• Authorized to work in the United States.
• Proven ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment and lead small technical teams.
• Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written.

Required skills

• CATIA V5 and/or 3DExperience (multiple workbenches).
• Proficiency with SAP, VPM and other Airbus computer‑based applications.
• Advanced MS Excel and Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Gmail).
• Programming knowledge in C, C++ or Python (preferred).
• Experience with metallic/composite airframe structures and system installations (electrical, hydraulic, fuel).
