Senior Fatigue & Damage Tolerance Engineer

About the role

Airbus Commercial Aircraft seeks a Senior Fatigue & Damage Tolerance Engineer to support aircraft structure development. The role involves performing complex durability and damage tolerance analyses for metallic airframe parts, collaborating closely with design and static stress teams.

Key responsibilities

• Autonomously conduct complex fatigue and damage tolerance analyses, including part sizing, layout maturation, trade studies, weight reduction, certification activities, and in‑service support.
• Document analyses for trade studies and detail drawing sign‑off, and liaise with Design, Static Stress and other departments to develop optimal solutions.
• Mentor less‑experienced analysts, lead technical presentations, and act as key technical contact on contracts and projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Aerospace, Mechanical, Civil or related engineering.
• At least 9 years of experience in airframe structural analysis, with strong fatigue and damage tolerance background.
• Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment, lead technical teams, and obtain Authorizer Technical Signatory.

Required skills

• Classical hand calculations and numerical (Finite Element) stress analysis methods.
• Proficiency with NASTRAN, PATRAN, CATIA, and MS Excel/Google Suite.
• Knowledge of airframe design (metallic & composites), SRM, MRB, FAR/JAR/CS/Part21 certification processes.
