Senior Engineer – Broadband Infrastructure

About the role

Native Network is seeking a Senior Broadband Infrastructure Engineer to lead design and delivery of telecommunications projects for Tribal Nations, rural communities, and public‑sector organizations. The role combines technical leadership with client‑facing consulting to ensure successful project outcomes and long‑term community impact.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and review broadband infrastructure designs, conduct feasibility studies, and select appropriate technologies.
• Lead end‑to‑end network design for middle‑mile and last‑mile fiber projects, including route planning, capacity analysis, and technology selection.
• Create engineering‑grade design packages using ArcGIS, AutoCAD, and Visio, and produce splice diagrams, bills of materials, and construction specifications.
• Manage the technical lifecycle of projects from design through permitting, construction oversight, testing, acceptance, and closeout.
• Review contractor submittals, as‑built drawings, and test results for compliance with specifications.
• Ensure designs comply with NTIA, USDA, FCC, and tribal grant requirements and support environmental and historic preservation reviews.

Required profile

• 7+ years of progressive engineering experience, preferably with hands‑on OSP fiber optic network design.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to present complex technical information to non‑technical audiences.
• Experience delivering federally funded broadband projects for tribal or underserved communities.
• Ability to work onsite in Wenatchee for the first 90 days and then transition to a hybrid schedule.

• Fiber optic network design (OSP/ISP), including aerial, buried, and underground methods.
• Routing and switching, GPON, XGS‑PON, Active Ethernet, fixed wireless technologies.
• ArcGIS, AutoCAD, Visio, Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, Smartsheet, Microsoft Project.
• OTDR testing and fiber characterization.
