Senior Elasticsearch Engineer

About the role

CACI is seeking a Senior Elasticsearch Engineer to lead advanced search, analytics and data engineering initiatives supporting mission-critical acquisition and contract lifecycle management systems. The role serves as a technical authority on the Elastic Stack, drives architectural decisions and oversees modernization roadmaps for large-scale government environments. It is a full-time, regular position with up to 10% continental US travel, requiring a Secret clearance.

Key responsibilities

• Architect, design and optimize Elasticsearch clusters, indexes, mappings and data models at scale
• Build dashboards, scripted queries, alerting and analytics in Kibana
• Lead ingestion and extraction workflows with Apache NiFi and enhance the Procurement Integrated Enterprise Environment (PIEE)
• Tune performance, monitor cluster health and resilience, and plan upgrades with impact analysis
• Provide technical leadership in SAFe teams and mentor mid-level and junior engineers
• Develop long-term technical roadmaps and apply data security, compliance and migration best practices

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience
• Eight or more years of progressive engineering experience, including 2+ years of hands-on Elasticsearch work
• Ability to lead technical initiatives and obtain a DoD Secret clearance

Required skills

• Expert knowledge of Elasticsearch internals, cluster tuning, scaling, shard allocation and snapshots
• Advanced Kibana, SQL and PL/SQL, with Oracle or PostgreSQL
• AWS services such as S3, RDS and EKS, or equivalent cloud platforms
• Desired: vector search, Groovy or Python scripting, containerized deployments, CI/CD tools, and Elastic or AWS certifications
