Senior Director, Health & Benefits Consulting

About the role

Mercer, a Marsh business, is looking for a Senior Director to lead its Health & Benefits Consulting team in New York. This is a hybrid role with at least three days a week in the office. The position carries overall P&L accountability for a unit, driving business strategy, managing client relationships and leading a team delivering complex, high-impact solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a unit with overall P&L accountability, including budgeting, staffing and strategy
• Manage all aspects of unit finances and define and implement long-term business strategy aligned with global and regional goals
• Lead key client engagements and large, complex projects, directing project teams and developing strategic solutions
• Generate revenue through new client acquisition, cross-selling and extending existing client engagements
• Hire, manage, develop and evaluate a team, giving performance feedback and career development
• Build market contacts with financial and HR executives, C-suite members and other business leaders
• Contribute to business initiatives and enhance market presence through thought leadership and industry events

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in health and benefits consulting or a related field
• Demonstrated success in client relationship management and business development
• Excellent leadership and team management capabilities
• Nice to have: experience engaging with C-suite executives, a track record of successful market strategies, and ability to negotiate competitive rates and coverage options

Required skills

• Strong financial management, including P&L and budgeting experience
