Senior Director, Clinical Development Learning & Center of Excellence

About the role

The Senior Director, Head of Clinical Development Learning & Center of Excellence (CoE) is responsible for setting the vision, establishing the strategy, and directing the global work for clinical capability development, organizational learning, and integration across all therapeutic areas. This dual‑mandate position reports to the Head of Clinical Science‑Oncology and works closely with the Head of Clinical Science Non‑Oncology.

Key responsibilities

• Direct the combined organization: lead, manage, and develop a multi‑disciplinary global team across learning, development, and data innovation pillars.
• Set CoE strategy and governance: define the operational charter, allocate resources, manage the budget, and direct global work of the CoE.
• Create a sustainable multi‑year clinical capability and innovation roadmap that supports pipeline execution and therapeutic‑area priorities.
• Establish key performance indicators to measure effectiveness, adoption, and business impact of capability programs and technical monitoring innovations.
• Oversee the Clinical Data Intelligence and Medical Monitoring Innovation group, driving data analytics, digital tools, and advanced monitoring methodologies.
• Ensure seamless connection between technology development and capability adoption, translating new digital tools into learning curricula and change‑enablement initiatives.

Required profile

• Doctoral degree (PhD, PharmD, or equivalent) with at least 8 years of relevant experience, including 5 years in pharmaceutical or clinical development.
• Alternatively, a Master’s degree in Life Sciences or related field with 12 years of experience, including 8 years in pharma/clinical development.
• Proven experience as a Clinical Scientist with hands‑on trial design and execution, combined with a background in learning and development, technological innovation, and managing leaders.
