Senior Director, Accounting – North America

About the role

The Senior Director, Accounting – North America will lead the accounting function for a publicly‑traded fresh‑produce company. Reporting to the VP Finance NA, this executive ensures accurate, timely financial reporting and compliance with U.S. GAAP, SEC, and SOX requirements across multiple business units and legal entities.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee monthly, quarterly and annual close processes for distribution centers and fresh‑cut facilities.
• Manage inventory valuation, cost accounting, revenue recognition, and fixed‑asset accounting.
• Review and approve capital‑asset requests, ensuring ROI and alignment with strategic initiatives.
• Partner with tax, treasury, investor relations, and external auditors to support M&A activity and regulatory compliance.
• Drive continuous‑improvement projects, leveraging technology and automation to enhance controls and reporting efficiency.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in senior accounting leadership within a complex, multi‑entity environment.
• Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting, and SOX compliance.
• Proven ability to lead large, geographically dispersed teams and develop talent.
• Strong business acumen with experience in the fresh‑produce or agricultural sector preferred.
