Senior Development Officer (Remote, Bay Area)

About the role

Evidence Action is a global health organization delivering data-driven interventions across 11 countries, with programs such as Deworm the World and Safe Water Now. As a Senior Development Officer on the Growth team, you will drive the individual fundraising strategy and expand key revenue streams, focusing on mid-level and major gifts and building relationships in the tech community, especially in the San Francisco Bay Area. The role is remote, with travel beyond the Bay Area expected up to 10% of the time.

Key responsibilities

• Cultivate and steward donors in the five-, six- and seven-figure range, retaining and growing giving to meet annual revenue goals
• Act as a spokesperson for the organization's mission and prepare senior leaders for donor engagements
• Research high-value prospects and create compelling communications such as proposals, impact reports and presentations
• Maintain accurate donor records in Salesforce
• Test new tactics such as collaborative pledges and donor salons, analyze progress against targets and recommend strategy changes
• Build a donor community in the Bay Area and experiment with AI-powered tools

Required profile

• 6+ years in fundraising, communications or business development, including 3 years of progressive experience with direct fundraising and donor relationship management
• Track record of activating donors and closing 6-figure gifts (equivalent relationship-driven growth experience considered)
• Experience communicating with high-value donors and prospects
• Able to manage complex projects, use data for decisions and adapt quickly
• Willing to meet donors and colleagues outside standard business hours

Required skills

• CRM systems, especially Salesforce
• Individual donor cultivation and major gift solicitation
