Senior Developer – QIS Technology

About the role

Barclays is seeking a Senior Developer for its QIS Technology team in New York. The role focuses on delivering scalable client‑servicing solutions, improving automation, data quality and providing consistent digital access and reporting insights across regions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead engineering teams to deliver high‑quality software solutions on time and within budget.
• Oversee timelines, risk management, task prioritisation and resource allocation.
• Mentor team members, conduct performance reviews and drive continuous improvement of engineering processes.
• Collaborate with trading, structuring and product teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Enforce technology standards, peer reviews and robust testing practices.

Required profile

• Strong experience designing and developing enterprise solutions using Java.
• Proficiency in Python for creating fit‑for‑purpose solutions.
• Experience with reporting tools such as Power BI and handling structured and unstructured data.
• Knowledge of quantitative strategies or indices, especially equity and commodity derivatives.
• Hands‑on experience with databases like Oracle and SQL Server.

Required skills

• Workflow orchestration tools (Airflow or Dagster).
• Docker, cloud technologies and Kubernetes.
• KDB knowledge.
• Ability to lead small teams (4‑8 professionals) in a front‑office environment.
