Senior Data Scientist, Supply Chain Simulation and Fulfillment

About the role

The Home Depot is looking for a Senior Data Scientist for its supply chain simulation and fulfillment function. The role leads data science initiatives that drive business profitability, greater efficiencies and a better customer experience, and helps build the advanced analytics infrastructure used for decision making. It is a lead position with no direct reports, reporting to a manager or above.

Key responsibilities

• Solution development (35%): design and develop algorithms and models on large datasets, choose and interpret advanced analytical methods, and communicate insights to technical and non-technical leaders
• Project management and team support (30%): set project goals with partners, prioritize work, mentor junior colleagues, balance workload and support recruiting and hiring
• Business collaboration (20%): apply business knowledge to solutions, educate partners on advanced analytics and look for new opportunities to use data science as a competitive advantage
• Technical exploration and development (15%): learn new developments, document reusable solutions and contribute a library of reusable, documented algorithms

Required profile

• Age 18 or older and legally permitted to work in the United States
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a field related to the job
• Preferred: PhD in a quantitative field (computer science, math, statistics, etc.), 6+ years of business intelligence and analytics experience, and 5 years of work experience

Required skills

• Preferred: proficient in a modern scripting language (preferably Python)
• Preferred: running queries with Google BigQuery or SQL
• Preferred: data visualization tools such as Tableau
• Preferred: prescriptive modeling (optimization, computer vision, recommendation, search, NLP) and predictive modeling, data mining and data analysis
