Senior Data Scientist, Marketing

About the role

The Home Depot is looking for a Senior Data Scientist, Marketing, to lead data science initiatives that drive business profitability, greater efficiencies and a better customer experience. The role helps build the advanced analytics infrastructure that informs decision making and acts as a lead on data science projects, presenting insights and recommendations to leaders and business partners. It also contributes to staffing needs and takes part in recruiting and hiring.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop algorithms and models on large datasets to create business insights, choosing and interpreting advanced analytical methods
• Communicate insights and recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical leaders and partners, and prepare reports, updates and presentations
• Work with project teams and business partners to set goals, prioritize work and distribute workload and resources
• Mentor and coach more junior team members and support recruiting and hiring
• Build trust with internal customers and cross-functional teams, and educate them on advanced analytics
• Explore new developments in data science, document reusable algorithms and codified data products, and define best practices for model production

Required profile

• Age 18 or older and legally permitted to work in the United States
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a field related to the job
• Preferred: PhD in a quantitative field (Computer Science, Math, Statistics, etc.), 6+ years of experience in business intelligence and analytics, and 5 years of work experience
• Preferred: leadership experience is not required

Required skills

• Preferred: modern scripting language (preferably Python)
• Preferred: querying data (preferably Google BigQuery or SQL)
• Preferred: data visualization software (preferably Tableau)
• Preferred: prescriptive modeling such as optimization, computer vision, recommendation, search or NLP
• Preferred: predictive modeling, data mining and data analysis
