Senior Data Scientist - Decision Analytics, Store Operations

About the role

The Home Depot is looking for a Senior Data Scientist in Decision Analytics, Store Operations Transformation. The role drives AI adoption and data science innovation across Store Operations, enhances and scales existing analytical products, and leads data science initiatives that improve business profitability, efficiency and customer experience. It helps build the advanced analytics infrastructure that informs decision making. The position reports to a manager or above and has no direct reports.

Key responsibilities

• Solution development (35%): design and develop algorithms and models on large datasets, choose and interpret advanced analytical methods, and communicate insights to technical and non-technical leaders
• Project management and team support (30%): set project goals, prioritize work, mentor junior colleagues, balance workload and support recruiting and hiring
• Business collaboration (20%): apply business knowledge to solutions, educate partners on advanced analytics and look for new business opportunities to use data science
• Technical exploration and development (15%): learn new developments, document and share reusable algorithms and codified data products, and define best practices for model production

Required profile

• Age 18 or older and legally permitted to work in the United States
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a field related to the job
• Preferred: PhD in a quantitative field, 6+ years of business intelligence and analytics experience, and experience deploying agentic solutions (preferably Google ADK)

Required skills

• Preferred: Python, Google BigQuery or SQL, Tableau, Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
• Statistical techniques, prescriptive modeling (optimization, computer vision, recommendation, search, NLP), predictive modeling, data mining and data analysis
