Senior Data Science Engineer / Specialist

About the role

The Senior Data Science Engineer/Specialist will lead advanced data science initiatives for Department of Defense and U.S. Navy projects, turning large data streams into actionable intelligence and strategic insights.

Key responsibilities

• Lead planning, execution, and delivery of complex data science and mathematical projects, providing mentorship to junior staff.
• Design, develop, and deploy advanced statistical, predictive, and machine‑learning models, as well as simulation and optimization algorithms.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define requirements, manage risks, and ensure compliance with DoD standards.
• Produce high‑quality technical reports, presentations, and visualizations for senior leadership.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
• 4+ years of relevant experience in data science, mathematics, or related disciplines.
• Proven ability to lead projects, manage teams, and deliver high‑quality results.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.

Required skills

• Advanced programming in Python, R, or MATLAB.
• Statistical methods, machine‑learning techniques, and mathematical modeling.
• Data‑visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or matplotlib.
• Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Familiarity with machine‑learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit‑learn) and big‑data technologies (Hadoop, Spark).
