Senior Data Operations Engineer

About the role

Anvilogic is a Palo Alto-based AI cybersecurity startup whose AI-powered Multi-Data Platform SIEM is used by advanced security teams. As a Senior Data Operations Engineer, you will be responsible for the health, performance and cost of the Snowflake accounts Anvilogic runs for its customers. You will onboard new customers, monitor and optimize their environments, act as the escalation point for Customer Success and Sales Engineering, and advise customers who run their own Snowflake and Databricks environments.

Key responsibilities

• Onboard customers end to end, including account and warehouse setup, roles and permissions, data source ingestion and application installation.
• Monitor the health and cost of managed Snowflake accounts and fix issues before they affect customers.
• Optimize queries, data formats and task plans for reliability, performance and cost.
• Eliminate waste such as unused tasks, oversized warehouses and inefficient queries.
• Produce cost reporting and optimization recommendations for internal teams and customers.
• Serve as escalation point for complex Snowflake and Databricks issues and advise customers running their own environments.
• Take part in on-call rotation and incident response.
• Automate operational work with Python and Terraform.
• Share data operations and cost best practices through documentation and brown bag sessions.

Required profile

• 4+ years of experience in data operations, data engineering or database administration.
• 2+ years running Snowflake at scale in production.
• Experience managing and optimizing Snowflake cost, including warehouse sizing, resource monitors and credit usage.
• Experience with on-call rotations and production incident response.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Required skills

• Advanced SQL and query performance optimization.
• Python and Terraform.
• Preferred: Databricks, security data (endpoint and network logs), observability tools such as Grafana and Sentry, and cloud providers such as AWS, GCP or Azure.
