Senior Data Engineer – Spark, NiFi, SQL

Mastercard is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain high‑performance data pipelines that unlock the value of its massive data assets. You will work in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment, delivering secure and scalable solutions that support the company’s mission of powering an inclusive digital economy.

Key responsibilities

• Develop high‑quality, secure, and scalable data pipelines using Apache Spark with Scala, Python or Java on Hadoop or object storage.
• Design and implement data ingestion and movement workflows with Apache NiFi.
• Leverage emerging technologies to handle increasingly large data sets and improve performance.
• Automate data‑access processes and drive efficiency across the data lifecycle.
• Enforce software development standards and engineering best practices in the Big Data space.
• Collaborate closely with business stakeholders and embedded engineering teams to deliver scalable products quickly.
• Identify opportunities to enhance standards, processes, and overall data platform reliability.
• Independently manage assigned tasks and respond to production incidents.

Required profile

• 6+ years of experience delivering end‑to‑end data‑warehouse projects in a Big Data environment.
• Proven ability to build and maintain data pipelines using Spark and NiFi.
• Strong analytical mindset with a focus on data quality, security, and performance.
• Experience working with relational databases such as Oracle or data‑warehouse platforms like Netezza is a plus.
