Tech Lead (Russian speaker) – Remote

About the role

As a Tech Lead at Whizz you will own the architecture and code quality of the entire platform, spanning the PHP core, billing system, ERP, client area, mobile app and People platform. The role is hands‑on, reports directly to the founder and requires you to work on a New York (EST/EDT) schedule while collaborating remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Own the architecture and technical roadmap of all Whizz systems, including PHP core, billing, ERP, client area, mobile app and People platform.
• Review every pull request before merge, enforce coding standards and ensure data‑safety and security.
• Design, maintain and optimise the database architecture across MySQL and PostgreSQL.
• Manage Docker images, deployments and environments using CapRover.
• Drive AI‑assisted development across the team, creating prompts and rules for reviewing AI‑generated code.
• Translate product requirements into technical tasks and mentor backend, frontend and mobile developers.
• Lead incident response and deliver root‑cause fixes.

Required profile

• 6+ years of backend development experience with a strong focus on PHP 8.
• 2+ years of experience leading a development team.
• Native Russian speaker with fluent English.
• Ability to work on a New York (EST/EDT) schedule.

Required skills

• PHP 8, ProcessWire, TypeScript (Vue/Nuxt, React/Next.js), Flutter.
• MySQL and PostgreSQL data modelling, migrations and query optimisation.
• Docker in production, CapRover or similar PaaS, CI/CD pipelines.
• Stripe (or similar payment provider) integration and REST APIs.
• AI development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot and experience writing agent instructions.
• Version control with Gogs and GitHub.
