Senior Contracts and Grants Officer – Contract Review & Negotiation

About the role

The Office of Research Administration at the University of Miami seeks a Senior Contracts and Grants Officer to lead contract review and negotiation for sponsored research projects. The role operates independently, ensuring compliance with sponsor requirements and university policies.

Key responsibilities

• Review, analyze, and negotiate terms and conditions of grants and research contracts from diverse sponsors.
• Provide guidance to faculty and staff on sponsored research administration, interpreting policies and regulations.
• Mentor and train Contracts and Grants Officers and departmental staff.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of unit policies, procedures, and guidance documents.
• Collaborate with IRB, Risk Management, Technology Transfer, Export Control, General Counsel, and other university offices.
• Monitor regulatory changes affecting the contracts portfolio and ensure adherence to university safeguards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in sponsored research, unfunded collaborations, or subaward agreements.
• Certified Research Administrator credential preferred but not required.
