Senior Consultant / Manager - Process Safety Management (PSM)

About the role

dss+ is a global consultancy partnering with high-risk and asset-intensive industries on safety, operational excellence and sustainability. As a Senior Consultant or Manager in Process Safety Management (PSM), you will work with clients to identify, design and implement practical solutions to complex process safety and operational risk challenges, from the boardroom to the shop floor. The role is based in the United States with flexible location and travel of up to 80%. At Manager level you take greater ownership of client relationships, project leadership and team development.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and deliver PSM and Operational Risk Management workstreams and transformation programmes in high-hazard organisations
• Assess existing process safety systems, capabilities and performance to identify risks, gaps and opportunities
• Design and implement practical PSM/ORM solutions aligned to each client's environment, culture and objectives
• Work with executives, operational leaders and frontline teams, and run assessments, workshops, training and executive coaching
• Act as a trusted adviser, helping clients turn risks into decisions and embed sustainable capability
• Lead and support multidisciplinary project teams, coach colleagues and contribute to dss+ methodologies and thought leadership
• At Manager level: contribute to account development, proposals and business opportunities

Required profile

• Significant experience in Process Safety Management, Operational Risk Management or closely related fields
• Practical experience designing, implementing or improving PSM programmes
• Experience conducting process safety assessments, risk reviews and improvement programmes, and working with senior leaders and frontline teams
• Proven experience leading technical workstreams or complex projects in industrial settings
• Experience in high-hazard or asset-intensive industries such as oil & gas, chemicals, petrochemicals, mining & metals, manufacturing or energy
• Consulting experience is advantageous; Manager-level candidates should show experience leading client engagements and account development

Required skills

• Deep understanding of PSM principles and broad knowledge of Operational Risk Management
• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, and facilitation of workshops, training and coaching
• Client engagement, leadership and the ability to influence stakeholders at executive level
• Strong written, verbal and presentation skills
