Applications Engineer - CNC Machining

About the role

HFO Chicago, the exclusive distributor of Haas CNC machine tools and rotary products in Northern Illinois and Indiana, is hiring an Applications Engineer. The role covers part programming of CNC machine tools, process development and customer training in an industrial environment. It is a hybrid position with remote and in-office work, plus regular travel to customer sites across Indiana and northern Illinois.

Key responsibilities

• Run pre-sale activities and reviews, including customer visits, opportunity evaluation, machine assessments, part-processing recommendations and turnkey proposals
• Make accurate cost estimates, write engineering reports and interpret plans and specifications
• Program and set up CNC lathes and CNC vertical or horizontal mills
• Develop and run custom demonstrations and train customers on the safe setup and operation of CNC machining centers and lathes
• Maintain in-depth technical knowledge of the product lines represented

Required profile

• Highly mobile and able to access all areas of the premises
• Able to sit for long periods and to lift up to 50 lbs with assistance
• Close, distance and peripheral vision, depth perception and good hand-eye coordination
• Ability to work in industrial environments with noise, lubricants, coolants and metal chips, wearing PPE
• Ability to work in dynamic, fast-paced sites with changing priorities
